An existing managed IT and Microsoft 365 client needed to replace an aging analog BNC video surveillance system that no longer met the parish's security requirements. The existing camera infrastructure was outdated, provided poor image quality, and could not be managed remotely. Adding complexity, the building layout meant that cabling runs from a single central point were not practical — the old wiring paths were insufficient to support a modern IP camera system.
Gold Coast Tech collaborated with the parish's facilities vendor to survey the property and design a camera layout that met coverage requirements. To address the wiring limitations, we engineered a distributed architecture using two separate network nodes — each serving as an aggregation point for a section of the building — allowing IP camera runs to remain within practical distance limits. The legacy BNC system was decommissioned and replaced with a Unifi Protect IP camera system, providing HD video, remote monitoring, and centralized cloud-accessible recording management.
The parish now has a modern, fully managed IP security system with significantly improved video quality and remote access capability. The distributed node design solved the infrastructure constraint without requiring full re-cabling of the building. Gold Coast Tech continues to provide both managed IT and security system services, and the parish is currently evaluating a Unifi access control system as the next phase of the security upgrade.
